Last week I was required to take yet another training course, there always seems to be continuing education classes for nurses to take, but they keep us on top of the most current medical information. This course I took was on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and safe sleep. I was shocked at one of the most staggering statistics that if an infant that is always placed on its back to sleep is placed on its tummy for one nap, it is 18 times more likely to die of SIDS. I was floored by that number. So I decided that I would share a public video with all of our family, mostly REALLY wanting all of the Grandparents-to-be to view, just so that we're all on the same page. I know over the years they have told people to place infants on their tummies or sides, but research has shown and proved over the past 16 years that babies on their back for sleeping is the safest. Anyhow, I hope you have time to view it, the DVD has been placed on You Tube for public viewing. The entire video takes about 12 minutes and there is a part one and a part two.
Thanks for helping keep the Nugget safe!
