It seems like it has been forever since I posted a real update! I am quite apologetic for that... it amazes and humbles me as to how many people actually read this blog, thank you for doing so, and supporting us, it truly means so much!
Week 14 has come and gone, and we were able to capture a photo of our little Nugget on it's very first Halloween. We decided the Nugget was dressed up like a fetus for its first holiday :)
I flipped the photo upside down (because Baby Van Court was hanging out upside down), here you can see the Nugget's little tiny hand, with perfectly formed fingers. We saw him/her sucking it's thumb too! Just like Mommy and Daddy did when they were little!
Over the course of the past week I have had some of my nausea medications adjusted due to the impact they were making on the rest of my digestive system. Dr. Kauffman had me stop taking Zofran and begin taking Reglan (both are anti-nausea medications approved for pregnancy that just have slightly different methods of action). Unfortunately, the Reglan does not seem to work for me, at all. I feel like I'm back at square one, unable to keep anything down and getting sick multiple times a day. I've also started losing weight again, not exactly what I'm supposed to be doing in the second trimester. I've been having stern conversations with the Nugget, telling him/her that we are supposed to be getting better and that we have to eat and digest food in order to do that. Phillip caught me in the past couple of days asking the Nugget why we're still doing this, and he replied for baby Van Court, "not my fault mom!" He's still so incredibly supportive but I know he's ready for this part to be over, too.
My mother came to the conclusion that she was officially "sick" over the course of all 4 of her pregnancies for a total of 1 year. Hers usually lasted about 12 weeks (3 months), and as of right now, I'm only at 10 weeks of being sick, so hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel :)
I can't believe it's already November... the holidays are right around the corner! Someone asked me how far along I was the other day, and it was strange to say almost 4 months! I still have nothing to show for it, though Louise said that she could wear her non-maternity jeans until she was 5 months pregnant with Phillip. Perhaps that's simply the blessing of having a long torso (or a long everything)!
Phillip and I went to the Graber's (our neighbor's) Halloween party on Saturday October 30th. Phillip had the great idea to be Chilean Miner #23 and his Mistress. The best part is that Phillip simply went to work, grabbed his coveralls & a hardhat, and his costume was complete. We had a great time. Here is a photo:
I do promise that I'm still working on Phillip to give an update... hopefully now that Fall Harvest is winding down, he'll have some more free time to create a new post.
Have a fabulous weekend!

yep I'm a professional puker from way back.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't see how you do it. There is almost nothing worse than nausea. Hang in there girl, you're showing a lot of courage. As for Miner #23, he'll rise to the occasion when you need him. We love all 2.4 of you.
