Oh my...

Oh my goodness... How on Earth has it been 8 months since my last post?! I have been taking photos, A LOT of photos, and videos, and well... life has happened I suppose! And now, this is the time of year that I send out Christmas cards urging friends and family to follow us here, because I so rarely post on facebook (until recently, when many of my posts have been on the online garage sale facebook sites... I've probably made around $2000 since September between those sites and eBay! Phillip is just happy to have cleared a tiny bit of space in our home!)
Anyhow... life is... well, pretty great right now and truly, our only complaint is Willie's lack of sleep (apparently sleeping through the night for a Van Court child is quite difficult to do!).
I've realized my neglect for this as I update my Christmas Memories Book and as I complete a special project for my little family (ok, cats out of the bag... it's a Family Yearbook for 2013! It's been so fun to go through all of the photos and I hope to make this an annual tradition... but this blog has been so great, it's like a journal, of tiny moments that I'd forgotten about.. and I don't want to have that end!)
So here's to my New Years Resolution (starting a bit early ;) of updating this more frequently... or at least once a month!
I hope this finds you all well, and as soon as I complete the yearbook (Jan 2013-Dec2013), I will post the link to view it online... I obviously think it's pretty awesome... and I hope everyone else will too!

So, enough with my blabbering... here are some photos from the last few months!

Willie's First Haircut!!  Callie didn't have one until she was almost 2.5 years old! He's now had 5!

We went to the Sedgwick County Zoo (Awesome!)

Hung out at the pool a bit...

Then went to the Rolling Hills (Salina) Zoo with our friend Jasmine.

Willie learned to crawl (Bear Crawl Style)... he has since learned to walk... and now run!

Grammie and Grandfather came out to visit us...

Daddy got an awesome new truck that he loves... and mommy loves that it has more seating room for all of us!

My babies :)

We had Thanksgiving at our house... Gee and Gamps came to visit!

Oh those Van Court boys!

Bitty got crafty with Grammie...

And she started preschool (her so smart y'all!)

We all went on her first day...

And then we went to the pumpkin patch...

And Willie turned 1!!!!!

A couple of times ;) He's got the candle blowing part down now :)

And we decorated our home for Christmas

It's been a crazy busy and exciting year... so here's to many more posts and updates about the Salinian Van Courts :)

A Candid Collection~

I've compiled a random collection of photos from this spring... and so with this brief moment I have (Willie is napping while Daddy and Callie are out driving daddy's new fast car! <-- yes!  Daddy took this beautiful afternoon off!  I can't believe it! --which probably means he'll be working all weekend... but we'll take what we can get!)

I'm sure I've sent this out via text message before... but I also captured this sweet moment on my big camera.  My two sleeping men... love it.

I can't believe how much Willie has already changed, he looks so young in this photo.  He would have been about 6 weeks old here.

For Valentines Day Weekend, Auntie Erin and Cousin Mavy came out to play with us.  It was perfect timing, because my Valentine was sharing his special day with a locomotive, and Erin and I bought each other chocolates... we were perfect Valentines!  Here Erin is snuggling with two babies, just after naptime... watching some Disney Channel cartoon I'm sure.

Perhaps one of the worst (or best... depending on how one looks at it) ideas I've had in a while... the bucket of beans in the living room with two toddlers (and my husband)... needless to say, I'm still finding them everywhere (but I know the baby's sure had a blast!)

Everyone enjoying Daddy's Valentines Day gift... the Nintendo Wii Disney Cars game... according to the babies, it was totally awesome! (And Phillip LOVED using this method for entertaining the kiddo's)

We're not sure how many more times we'll be able to let the babies bathe together... but they both have so much fun when they get to "swim" together! (also... this is about as much use as my big tub gets these days!)

Silly babies...

Mavy is SOOO good about smiling for the camera!  I wish Callie would take note!

And after the bath we let them run around with their hooded towels on... they were so cute chasing each other.  (Please excuse the toy tornado that had hit my living room... it happens with 2 toddlers, an infant... and a dog that must have his "things" as well ;) <-- this was why we needed two mommy's!

Willie... in utter awe of his big cousin (I'm guess we'll capture many more of these instances throughout Willie's life!)

This is an old one too... from back in January... Bitty just checking on her "bay bruddah" (and notice Beans in the background... checking on his sister :)

Painting mommy's empty oatmeal cartons to use as toy storage in the toy room!  We LOVE the new table and chairs set the Grammie Lou and Grandfather got Callie and Willie for Christmas! (We also love the surgical drapes provided by Dr. Graber --ok, mostly Mandi!)

This big boy is so different from his sister... he doesn't care how he gets his milk, as long as he gets it... bottle or mommy... it doesn't matter to him!

One of Bitty's FAVORITE things of all time... taunting Sneebie.  All she wants is his attention... all of the time.  She wants to be able to play with him, feed him, control him... She is so happy when she has his undivided attention.

I'm sure that's enough photos for now... I still have photos I need to get from mother and from Grandfather... so hopefully we'll have more the share again soon!

Love, Kisses and Sneebie Licks!

It's that time of year... Our very own little Doc McCallie is turning 3!!!!  So here is her official party invitation!  (I'm working on having them printed and sent out... so be on the look out for your invite!)

..... I would like to add that in the RSVP line, I feel as if I have truly earned both of the titles that are before and after my name ;)....

Need gift ideas for the little Doctor?  Check out her wish list here:

(if the link isn't working... go to amazon.com click on "wish list" then select "find a wish list" type in my name "Kristin Van Court" and on the left hand side of the webpage you should be able to select a wish list for everyone in my little family (including Sneebie)... press of Callie's name and waa-lahh over 40 gift ideas for the little miss!) <-- or you can always call me for ideas :)

And of course... better late than never... here is Doc McCallie's littlest happy 4 month old patient:

I know her birthday party is a weekend early... but since everyone will already be in town for Easter (and shhhh... she doesn't actually know it's not really her birthday date) we thought it would be easiest to celebrate the Saturday before Easter Sunday... we would love to have everyone over to my parents house in Derby!  We will also be having a teeny tiny mini birthday party on her actual birthday (any reason for mommy to enjoy another slice of cake :) that everyone is welcome to... it just happens to fall on a Monday this year!

And... my very favorite photo yet this year... all three of my babies (courtesy of Steve Van Court professional photo editing services)... LOVE them!!!

Dirty Daddy

I believe many of you know that Phillip lost the elevator Superintendent last September (the guy was from Texas and wanted to go back home after being in Salina for 5 years)... that being said... the position still has not been filled.  There's an industry-wide shortage of qualified people for this position... it's the largest elevator Scoular owns and it generates a huge amount of revenue... but it's also A LOT of work.  And, it seems, no one really wants to work very hard anymore.  They all want the paycheck that goes along with it... but not the long, dirty, inconvenient hours.  This has been a huge struggle for us.  Phillip spends many days, evenings, and nights away from home... including weekends, loading trains full of grain, dumping trucks full of grain from farmers into the elevator and keeping the place, essentially, afloat.  It's sort of what it was like when we very first moved to Salina.  No real functioning superintendent and a crazy work schedule -- and I thought it was hard then.  Now with a toddler and a newborn, it's even more difficult than I ever imagined... though, we're incredibly grateful for a very supportive family.  From Stefanie (Pup), my sister, coming to stay with me on her days off from work and school, to Erin and Mavy coming to spend a long weekend with us, and an occasional break from my mother... I truly COULD NOT do it without these people.  We believe that there is a greater purpose for all of this... a lesson that is meant to be understood and learned... because without that belief... it would be hard to continue this life as, basically, a single parent... and Phillip working all day, everyday, with an occasional Sunday afternoon off.

He's had 2 interviewee's that have NEARLY taken the job... but have turned it down at the last minute... something simply wasn't right for them.  And you'd better believe that I'm working just as hard to try to find a replacement... or two.  I need my husband back... and my baby's want their daddy back.
I want to be clear that I'm simply venting here... and that I'm certainly not ungrateful for the wonderful opportunities that Scoular has granted us.  We're just all exhausted right now.  I'm not sure how the women do it with a deployed husband... because I suppose I do get the occasional 5 am diaper change done by daddy just as he's headed back out the door again.

So if you would... just keep us in your prayers... keep whoever, or the whoevers , is meant to assume this position in your prayers (and that he comes to us soon!) <-- I was just informed that we have 2 guys coming for interviews this week!  Here's hoping one or both might work out!

-->So if you know anyone that needs a job... and wants to move to Salina... send your resume to Phillip at pvancourt@gmail.com ! <--

Ok... sorry for that debbie downer stuff... here's the fun stuff instead!  When Erin and Mavy came to visit us (Valentine's Day weekend)... they got to go visit Uncle Phil at the elevator (where he spent most of the weekend with a crane attempting to re-rail derailed train cars).  The kids had a blast!

Yes... that dirty dirty man is my husband (and that has only added to my work at home... the laundry has increased dramatically with a new baby, the spit up, and a husband working a filthy job... I generally have to run his work clothes through the machine at least twice... and then I have to clean the washing machine.)

I love that in this photo, Mavy is in obvious awe of Uncle Phil's awesome diesel engine while Callie is quite unimpressed with the noise associated with the engine, crane, semi trucks, grain dryer... basically everything).

Perhaps little Mavy will be the next generation to work at Scoular?  His genuine awe and interest (not to mention that he certainly didn't mind getting dirty!) throughout the entire visit was adorable!  Here Uncle Phil shows Mavy an assortment of grain...

Callie still unimpressed by the loudness of the facility, while the guys are wondering if Mavy wants a job (they're a little desperate for help :)

This is the man I fell in love with, the guy, that I thought was a grain janitor, that was obviously a hard worker and very intelligent, never did I realize or understand his potential until after we said "I do"... I told him I would have stayed married to the $50k/year grain elevator janitor and maintained a full time job forever for our happily ever after... but I'm so blessed for what was in store for us!

See all of that dirt?  There were tiny patches that were dry... otherwise it was nearly ALL solid MUD... needless to say we had naked babies for the drive home!

Weight training for Uncle Phil!  Over the mud and to the engine!

Erin admitted after these photos that she thinks Mavy may be slightly afraid of heights... he seems a little unsure in this photo!

Mister Mavy is much more comfortable INSIDE of the engine.

I spent most of this trip in the car... Phillip's elevator is 7 minutes from our house and in that time, Willie had a major diaper blow out, so he was only in a onesie, wrapped in several blankets... and I left the house in only house shoes (it was bound to happen eventually)... but we managed to get a family photo despite all of that! (and by family photo... I am also including the train behind us... because it's the other "child" requiring all of Phillip's attention in our life right now!)

And this is a photo I just took today.... I sure do love my babies!
(it's pretty difficult to get a shot of all 3... but Grandfather Steve is helping me with creating one!)

Boys Best Friend

Love, kisses and licks from all of us!

Another Quickie :)

It's another miracle... both babies asleep at the same time... and I'm not so overly exhausted that I'm actually able to update this for a moment... so I'll just add photos and caption those!

Yep... My little Willie is 3 months old already!!!  (I wish those awful first 3 months of pregnancy went as fast as these 3 months have gone!)  Willie is the happiest baby, mostly only getting upset when he's put on a "diet" (I left my mother with not nearly enough milk in Florida, needless to say, when he sucked the bottle of milk dry he was QUITE displeased!).  He's such a good boy, and really would sleep through the night if he could just breathe!

I just think he's absolutely the most handsome boy I've ever met... I'm so in love with him!  (sorry daddy!)

And here is a photo that might become one of our most treasured photos of all time (especially for my babies) a photo of Callie and Willie's Great Grandparents (well, 2 sets of 6!).  With Great Grandparents in Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska/Florida, Massachusetts and Wyoming having 2 sets in the same place at the same time is truly a treat! (And judging by these genes, one would guess that we would have tall children!  But apparently little Gremom's genes are strong enough to over power everyone else's in this photo making Callie a Bitty baby just like her Great Gremom!)

We had the opportunity to go out to dinner on the beach with Great Grandfather Marshall, Great Grammie Mona, Great Gremom and Great Poppa (and of course, Gee, the photographer here) it was a wonderful night, one that will be remembered for years to come.

One of the highlights of Bitty's Beach Vacation... chasing the birds on the beach!

Walking on the beach with Daddy and Bay-Bruddah

Where Bay-Bruddah spent most of his Beach Vacation... under the umbrella... in a blankey...

Bitty had so much fun playing with her Great Poppa on the beach... here they're sharing a Mango Popsicle to cool down from all their play!

Willie's first time in a pool (notice his fist in mouth)... in a heated pool at the resort.

The crew... Gremom, Mommy, Willie, Callie, Daddy, Poppa, Mud/Gee and Uncle Dooley :)

I'm not sure who had more fun... Bitty or Poppa!

And Gremom... took charge of watching little Willie, so Mother and I could soak up a little bit of that beautiful Florida sun!

Room service for breakfast!  It was quite a treat!  And yes, that is Willie playing under the table...

ok... I've got a hungry baby awake now... I have SOOO many photos to share!  Hopefully I can share again soon!  Love and kisses!
