The heartbeat of a Peach...

So finally... last week, at the ripe age of 12 weeks and 5 days... I could hear the little pitter-patter of our Nuggets heart at work.  There's just something about it that makes everything else in life seem so irrelevant... everything except for the little peach sized thing inside of me that is just working away at becoming a little "us".  I can't help but smile from ear to ear... it's amazing.  What is also incredible to me... is that as early as this coming Friday, we could know if it will be a miniature Phillip or a mini-me.  We won't though... not yet, we just still haven't made that decision.  Though, we have much persuasion coming at us from all sides saying that we should find out, because no one wants to buy green and yellow for the baby, because the pink and blue things are just so much cuter.

I think the only thing concrete that we have decided will be the middle names of both a girl and a boy.  We have decided to keep these a surprise, at least for now. :)

So this weekend was the big Salina Garage Sale.  Gremom (my loving nickname for my grandmother) drove up from Oklahoma and Mother drove from Wichita for the big event.  We had a 20 x 10 foot space to set up all of our treasures for the citizens of Salina to browse through...and hopefully purchase.  Gremom and Mom are professional garage salers, this was my Gremom's 4th sale this year!  It was a really fun experience, but unfortunately... no one was interested in purchasing much of our merchandise.  We may try again in the Spring.

Emily also drove down to spend the weekend with us, her drive was only 2.5 hours... which made us feel guilty for not going to visit her (we will Em!)  She was a professional organizer for the garage sale and had the idea for featured item of the hour and sold most of what she featured!  She also arranged the products just so, so that they might catch the eye of a certain shopper.  It was mostly fun to look at all of the random things other people had for sale, and you can always count on garage sales to be great places for people watching!

After Gremom (Poppa came up also, to play golf with Phillip) and Mom left for home, Phillip got to grill out for Emily and enjoy a bottle of wine Emily brought Phillip as an "expecting dad" gift.
Of course, anyone who knows us well, knows what we did for the rest of the evening.... played TRAINS (I know... all to appropriate for my Grain Trader husband)!  It's a board game, actually called Ticket to Ride, introduced to us by our good friends the Graber's (our neighbors here in Salina).  We just love it and spend most of our Saturday nights together playing the game over and over again, occasionally until 2 in the morning!  If we haven't gotten you to play yet... we will!

Emily brought the Nugget a Nebraska baby present with her... here are the photos of what she brought:

She said, regardless of how connected we feel with the University of Nebraska, the Corn blankey also supported Daddy's job :)

Here are the two beverages she brought for the Expecting Mom & Dad.
For Phillip: Red Belly Black, an Australian Shiraz Wine
For Kristin: S. Pellegrino, Sparkling Natural Mineral Water :)

We had the most fabulous weekend and were only reminded again about how wonderful of a family we have.  I hope you all have a great week!  Thanks for staying tuned to the Van Courts!

  1. By my rough estimation, you should be able to sell off all your "garage sale eligible items" before the beginning of the next millennium, which, contrary to popular belief is not the year 3000, but actually the year 3001.
