Harvest is over! Praise the Lord!!! It was a long and busy one... but a successful one at that! Callie, Sneebie AND Mommy are all glad to have Daddy back in our lives! Now we have two whole weeks to get back to our normal routine before we head to Cheyenne... which is a vacation we're all looking forward to!
Here are some of our current photos and life happenings:
Phillip can hardly believe the pregnancy is already over half way finished! For those that might not remember, a full term pregnancy is 40 weeks in length. So 20 weeks is half way! (Please don't ask me how many months pregnant I am, my OB/Gyn brain can't process it!).
Please notice Callie is sporting her beloved "Hoccer Ball" t-shirt... Sister loves her soccer balls!
And here is the little man at 18 weeks. He was again confirmed to be a man... as poor Stefanie (Auntie Pup) joined me for the sonogram and got to see his boy parts proudly displayed on a big screen TV...
I've been more than spoiled having had 2 official sonograms, and 2 excellent Sono Technicians that carefully went over every part of my little boy from head to toe. I was able to see the functioning and developing parts of his brain, was assured that he did not have any of the "red flag" markers for down syndrome, he has a 3 vessel umbilical cord (very important for getting nutrients and blood flow)... he heart looks fabulous, no cleft lip, and they could even see his little teeth forming in his jawbones. 10 fingers, 10 toes... and one heck of a kick! With everything that I see at work that can go wrong with pregnancy, having someone take the time to reassure me that my baby is growing as healthy as can be is truly a blessing.
He is so busy in my tummy already... Daddy got to feel a good soccer goal scoring kick ;) one night after a long day of harvesting... Callie got to feel him when he kept tapping the exact same spot on my tummy, she just giggled and tried to peek in my belly button at him. And even poor Beans, as I lay on the couch to watch the evening news has been kicked several times, while he rested his little head on my belly. It's pretty amazing getting to grow a life, and even more amazing to get to share it with those you love most.
So many women have random cravings throughout pregnancy, my mother, for one, craved a grapefruit from the Harry and David catalog so badly when she was pregnant with Danielle, that despite being quite poor, she ordered them! With me, she craved Taco Grande burritos (hence my love for Mexican fast food :)... and with this little man... my biggest craving of all, has been these frozen lemonade cups. I have to limit myself to 2 per day! Lucky for me, the local grocery store, Dillons, often has them for sale at 10 boxes for $10!! So thankfully, it's no bank breaking Harry and David grapefruit! Callie loves mommy's craving... because it gives us an excuse to sit outside and both enjoy "Popsicles" on these warm summer evenings!
My mother has even gone above and beyond to satiate my craving... she found them in a slightly larger size and a much larger box at Sam's club! So now she keeps a few at her house too... she must love me :)
(don't judge me... but I might be enjoying a lemonade cup now!)
So I feel quite pleased with how doing my own photo shoots of Callie has gone over the past 2 years... but as I attempted to do a wheat photo shoot in the middle of harvest, alone... I quickly realized it's nearly impossible! I need Phillip or some second person to help catch her attention and make her giggle while I steady the camera to snap the shot. Unfortunately... this was the ONLY photo of nearly 150 that I was pleased with... and even then, Phillip's first response to the photo was "awe... that wheat doesn't even look very good!" I just had to laugh... because I hadn't even considered how the wheat looked! I was more concerned about how my baby looked!
Regardless... here is my Wheat Princess (per Grandfather Steve) "Outstanding in her field" (per Gremom and Poppa... quite the clever phrase!)
Callie and I spent the 4th of July at the lake with Gee, Gimps, Boo, the Keplars and "Geemom" and Poppa... it was a blast... but of course we missed Daddy terribly. As harvest began winding down while we were away, Phillip sent me this photo... Yes, that's him, driving a VERY expensive combine and actually cutting wheat! One of the biggest farmers that Scoular Salina works with invited him out so he could really get the full experience... I'm not sure if you can zoom in on this photo or not... but his smile is priceless, just like a little boy... he was very excited about it!
A few other things I've been working on through harvest was choosing a "big girl bed" for Callie (we'll be moving her crib to her little brother's nursery) and was instructed by our Pediatrician to attempt to do as much of that moving/sharing of things several months before his arrival, so that she doesn't feel like he is "stealing" all of her things. Soooo... here is her big girl bed! I'm still searching for bedding, but this is due to arrive in mid-July. It's a white painted wooden daybed with a trundle to go underneath. I used my daybed until I was married... so we sort of intend for her to do the same! (Sorry the photo isn't great... I'll post one when we actually get hers all set up)
We also chose a crib bedding for the little man (mostly chosen by Phillip... but I was sold on it when I realized that a few KU Jayhawk decorations will match perfectly with this bedding!)... not to mention... it was 50% off! So it was too good of a deal to pass up!
(please ignore the embroidered name.... it has nothing to do with our little man)
We have not even talked about a name yet... and the boy name we had for Callie, we don't love any more... so, perhaps over the 20 hours of driving we'll have from Salina to Cheyenne and back again we can discuss names!
Alright y'all... that's plenty of blabbing from me for now! Love, licks, kisses and kicks from all of us here in Salina!
