From my Laptop...

Yes... its true!!!  I'm officially technologically up-to-date, thanks to my hubby, and am the proud owner of a new laptop!  Of course, since Scoular gets to choose Phillip's work laptop... I really had no say in what laptop I got.  He asked me what I wanted in a laptop and my first comment was something like, "can I get a pink one?"... he immediately said no... and asked if I had any other requirements... I didn't, so I let him choose whatever he wanted.  He enjoys "gadgets"... so he had fun shopping around for this one.  Apparently my new computer is the thinnest one on the market... so it's super light and very portable.  We didn't do an Apple (Mac book)... simply because... well, I guess I just didn't want to.  Anyhow... I'm still getting used to it and often find myself checking facebook on my phone during naptime before I realize my laptop is sitting on the kitchen table just itching to be used.  Phillip took the time to install and set everything up for me when I was at my mother's house in Derby working.  It was really nice to come home to it all ready to go!  The only thing I had to change was the astronomy photo he had spent so much time finding (sorry Phillip!) to a photo of my sweet baby girl!  I think the only other person I know that may have a difficult time deciding which to keep as a background would be Phillip's father, Steve (your son is SO much like you! <--which is a good thing).

Here's the photo Phillip chose:

Here's the one I chose :)

So... not a lot going on at the Van Court household this weekend.  Though we got a wild hair and decided to repaint our entry way!  Nothing terribly exciting though, just the same color in a different sheen.  The original was painted by the builder... and while the color is beautiful and neutral... it was flat as flat can be and showed every scuff, scratch and Callie-print.  The Mr. Clean magic eraser could only take away so much... and with the new coat of paint... our home looks so clean!
Mind you... Phillip is painting now while I type (he's quite the perfectionist and doesn't think I'll do a satisfactory enough job for him... which I'm fine with :).

We did get over 4 inches of rain today... and so... we HAD to go play outside in it!  We got totally soaked... and here are a few photos I snapped.  A special thanks to Auntie Emily who got Callie this adorable raincoat for her birthday... we certainly put it to the test and it kept my baby quite dry!  She could have used some rain boots... but we didn't have any, so barefoot it was!  You'll notice... big Brother Sneebie wanted nothing to do with the rain, and despite us all being out in it... refused to come outside.

I considered trying to set up a photo shoot... using the tripod... whenever the rain let up... but it NEVER let up!  Here's Miss Bitty playing with the tripod.  (Yes we run a nudest colony here in Salina... I just love my naked baby!)

Just stepping out into the TORRENTIAL downpour...
(LOVE her in Pigtails!)

Checking it all out!

My Sweet Baby girl...

Daddy was so happy for rain that he came out and played in it too!  The only requirement was... we COULD NOT sing "rain, rain, go away..."

Then... after drying off... and after naptime... we played in Pinto beans!  I was telling Phillip about "how great of a deal" I had gotten on them when he just sort of turned to me and said... "You realize I could have gotten you an entire bushel of corn or milo for her to play in for $8!!!" (Phillip wanted me to mention that this is an ALL TIME high price) Whoopsies... suppose I should've gotten that!  I told Phillip that perhaps next summer we can get her a sandbox and fill it with one of those grains!

Anyhow... Callie had a BLAST playing in this... she probably just sat in the tub for 30 minutes and then got out and played for another 30... it was SOO fun!

And after a very busy and exciting day... Her needed a little snack... so broccoli and carrots with ranch with Daddy!

Please also note the beautiful roses in the background of the photo... Phillip brought them home today "just because"!  I sure do LOVE this boy!  I have a pretty great life!

Anyhow... enjoy the photos all... I suppose I'll go back to the super exciting Saturday night we're enjoying here in Salina, Kansas (it's actually quite wonderful, really!).

Love and Kisses to All!!!

  2. Thanks!!! It's so easy and convenient... located just on our kitchen table! I love it! Glad someone likes to read what I type... it's generally just a bunch of ramblings...

  3. I really love the photos in the rain. She's a peach. As for Phil's reaction to playing in the beans, I doubt he'll find $8 corn next year.
